As a research scientist, Sophie works on the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of research activities. She draws from her training in social, cognitive, experimental, and mixed-methods psychological research to emphasize the role of social structures, learning systems, and contextual cues to transform educational and workplace environments into adaptive spaces for all group members. Sophie earned her B.A.s in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of South Florida. After completing an initial postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University, Newark by collaborating with The Garden State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, a multi-campus academic support program, she was awarded the National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship to broaden representation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math disciplines. Sophie has also closely collaborated with K-16 educational reform programs including the STEM Academy and Mathematical Thinkers Like Me to improve STEM learning across educational trajectories.
